Say No to Soda

If you are still drinking soda, take a minute to review this telling pictogram from one of my favorite sites, mindbodygreen.com.

One of the first and biggest steps that you can make toward a healthier lifestyle is to cut soda from your diet.  One 20 ounce regular soda contains about 17 teaspoons of sugar.  If you removed ONE 20 ounce soda a day from your diet, you’d be removing the equivalent of 26 POUNDS of body fat from entering your diet per year.

Diet soda is no better as the artificial sweeteners can actually have adverse effects on your metabolism and MAKE you crave sweets; not to mention all of the processed ingredients entering your system.  Many studies have linked artificial sweeteners to numerous health issues including cancer.  Need more of a reason?  Try this article from msn.com.  More reason? Try this article from the huffingtonpost.com.  Or try doing some of your own research on the topic.  I think you’ll find that it’s just not worth it as I did a few years back.

I recommend drinking filtered water, unsweetened tea, or diluted juice.  I invested in a Soda Stream and dilute organic fruit juice with carbonated, filtered water if I want something carbonated.  The Soda Stream is also better for the environment so that you don’t waste plastic and aluminum containers.
